SUMMARY:Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe (CCA) and SITE Santa Fe film series curated by artist Jeffrey Gibson: DRUNKTOWN’S FINEST
DESCRIPTION:The Tough Upbringing on a reservation pushes three young Native Americans to try and escape from their troubles.  (USA 2014)\nThe Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe (CCA) is partnering with SITE Santa Fe and artist Jeffrey Gibson to present a series of films specially curated to complement and inform the exhibition of Gibson’s work currently on view at SITE Santa Fe: The Body Electric. Gibson selected four films that will run each Saturday at CCA Cinema from July 30 through August 20, 2022 at 5:00 P.M each show.\nWith films such as Kent Mackenzie’s groundbreaking feature, The Exiles (1961), and contemporary neo-classic, The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open (2019), in addition to Drunktown’s Finest, Gibson’s curation is impeccable and suited to his own multidisciplinary work.\nGibson will provide historical and personal context for this series in the form of an exhaustive, collectible program with his own insights as to how these films inspire his work as well as how they carve their own space in the landscape of global film culture and history.\nThe series will culminate in an illuminating in-person discussion and Q&A featuring Gibson, moderated by CCA’s Head of Cinema Programming Luke Henley, on Saturday, August 20.\nThe Body Electric is currently on view at SITE Santa Fe until September 11, 2022. Gibson’s selections showcase a wide range of stunning films, both classic and contemporary, that highlight Native and Indigenous voices and issues across the globe.\n$15\n
