Santa Fe Literary Festival, Santa Fe Community Convention Center

The Inaugural
Santa Fe Literary Festival.

For centuries, this maverick city at the edge of the Southern Rockies has been a cultural crossroads, from Native and Hispano peoples whose oral traditions root them in the landscape to a long line of writers whose work imagines and illuminates the American West and the wider world. What better place to bring together influential authors, thinkers, and passionate readers for an event as unique and inspiring as the city itself.

Santa Fe, a city rich in cultural diversity, creativity, and dazzling light, is home to a four-day event that celebrates our shared love of language and ideas. We’ll explore issues at a time of extraordinary change – in politics, race, immigration, the environment, and more – as well as simply escape into great stories. The Santa Fe Literary Festival will feed our creative and culinary appetites and send us back into the world inspired.

 Keynotes

Bestselling, prizewinning authors headline the festival, discussing their work with readings and book signings that set the stage for further inspired conversations.

In Conversation

Authors and other notable figures engage in one-on-one conversations and thought-provoking discussions. An opportunity to find out what inspires some of today’s most important writers.

Around the Table

Celebrated chefs, cookbook authors, and food writers engage in culinary-themed conversations at curated meals and events. They will look at the role of food writing today and the connections between food and culture, identity and memory.

Walk & Talk

Small groups of festivalgoers along with featured authors stretch their legs and their minds during morning meditations, walking tours, and other literary-themed activities exploring topics ranging from the history and architecture of Santa Fe to the legacy of Georgia O’Keeffe and the Southwest’s love of the chile pepper.

Tea & Tequila

Prominent food writers and chefs will talk about their work in food while festivalgoers enjoy a refreshing afternoon tea. Or for more spirited conversation, spend time with an author and drinks expert as you sample top tequilas and mezcals.

Extend your experience with Literary Day Trips.

Santa Fe’s fabled blue skies and fresh air inspire festivalgoers to take a deeper dive into the city and Northern New Mexico environs. A series of full- and half-day excursions on Monday, May 23, give festivalgoers the chance to extend their stay, join an author, and experience the area’s cultural treasures and spectacular landscapes. Choose from events like the Sustainability & Food Study Day at Los Poblanos, a beautiful 25-acre property and organic farm located in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, an hour south of Santa Fe.
